I used to think that maybe you weren’t from Earth, because you moved so much faster than everyone else. But now I know you just make the world move slower so you can get more done in a day. You’re an early worm and a night owl, and now you’re running on fumes.
You think maybe you aren’t from Earth, but I know you are. And whatever you’re doing to cheat the system now will bite you in the butt later. And then, maybe, you’ll fall asleep, and I could make you breakfast. Do you like bagels?

Love,
Darla

“You scare the crap straight out of me,” he said. “Maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe I need the crap scared straight out of me.”
“There’s a lot of crap to scare out, sir,” Darla said.
“Don’t get cocky, there.”
“Yes, sir.”
“I love bagels.”
“Yes, sir.”
I've been saving this idea for a rainy day.
Decided to type it up today, and found it wasn't as funny as I first thought it was. ;P

Isn't Darla just the most annoying name?

I don't get that the second paragraph is any less serious than the first. It just feels as though the serious thought is being portrayed humorously.

Great work, once again.

Darla is indeed an annoying name. I liked the first paragraph better than the second, and got a good mental image of a larger plot.

I swore when I sat down that I was going to write something serious, hence first paragraph.

Then I got bored, hence second. xD

Thank you!

Very well written! I particularly enjoyed

"You’re an early worm and a night owl, and now you’re running on fumes."

I can relate. I also liked the random interjection about bagels. You took the stereotypical meaningless conversation between two people in love and added character and a tint of humor. I would choose a new section for this; it's not humorous but it's insightful and touching.

Thank you! You're right, I usually just put everything in Humor as a reflex. I'll go put it in general fiction now. :)

Thanks for the fave and the helpful comment! I appreciate it. :)

Bagels can fix anything. A universal law, expressed with humor and grace.
