Daily Deviations Goal

Sun Jun 7, 2009, 2:37 PM
:iconhinoneko: recently announced that each day she would try to find a worth piece of art and suggest it for a Daily Deviation. I've recently seen many complaints over recent DD's, and at least we know the issue isn't new.

FAQ #873: What do I do when I disapprove of a Daily Deviation feature?

STEP ONE. Don't you dare complain to the recipient. Nobody asks for a Daily Deviation. It's a showcase based on a suggestion. If you comment with, "This sucks," or "Why was this a DD?" expect to get your head flamed off.

STEP TWO. Browse galleries. Not just of your friends, not just of famous people. Try to find a piece that doesn't already have three thousand favorites and comments. When you find the piece, celebrate.

STEP THREE. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Note a suggestion to the CORRECT person. Only certain people on dA have the ability to create Daily Deviations, and they're often broken down into categories.

FAQ #18: Who selects the Daily Deviation and how is it chosen?

STEP FOUR. Wait. The staff might not get back to you immediately, or ever. Remember that they're bombarded with suggestions each day. If yours isn't chosen, move on. Don't suggest the same thing again unless you're sure they never received your note.

SEEMS LIKE COMMON SENSE, HUH? Well the majority of the confusion and aggravation BEHIND DD's is that people don't have any. So go out there and suggest some! It'll make you feel good. ;D

(Each day I'll be posting here the things I suggest, so look back from time to time!)

When you find a piece you'd like to suggest, go find out who the person is that you're supposed to suggest it to here.

(For example, if it's a cartoon, you'd note ^Thiefoworld)

Then, send them a note linking to the piece you found, and write two or three sentences about why you liked it. :D

Hope that helps!

I've suggested one DD in the entirety of my stay. I'm amazed at how quickly I felt frustration because the GM never replied or seemed to care. But, later I figured out how many stupid people actually flood their inbox with foolish suggestions. They remind me of editors: they'll find any reason not to read your work because of how busy they are.

It really depends on what medium you suggest.

I've never had my suggestion chosen (guilty :() but all the times I've done it, I've gotten a pleasant response back.

I'd still recommend it though! xD Though you're kind of right about the editor part. >>

The one I suggested was never responded to, but that doesn't exactly surprise me.

FYI, speaking as a GM, I do not reply to DD suggestion notes, however I carefully read each and every single one and keep them in a special folder. Also: I receive about 20-upwards to 40 or so notes a day + work away from DA 10-12 hour shifts daily, so I cannot reply to every note [whether DD suggestion or not,] that I may receive. And - it is not because I do not care, it is because I am forced to prioritize.

Hope this clears up a few issues.
